Meg Waite Clayton

I met Meg on line in a writer's group, not having any inkling as to the amount of writing she had done or if she had ever been published. I have recently found out that, yes, she is published. Not only has she published three books of fiction and many essays and non-fiction pieces, but she is an amazing writer.

She also blogs about writing and writers (I've added her blog to my blogroll). I have posted below a wonderful interview from her website. I know you will enjoy listening to this intelligent and knowledgeable woman talk about one of her books, The Wednesday Sisters.

  1. This was an interesting video. I'm also a baby boomer and I was on the other side of the great divide. There's no way I defined myself by my role as a daughter and wife. During the late 60's and 70's I began thinking outside the box. I charted a course that included not seeking other people’s approval to determine my own self worth, and not assuming responsibility for the happiness or unhappiness of others. I stopped explaining or justifying my actions to others. It was then that I began to learn how to live consciously in the present moment, and how to love myself so I had something of value to offer others in relationship with me.

  2. Great comment. I graduated high school in'48, so I had lived through a lot of what the women of the late 60's and 70's were trying to escape. However, I was thinking outside the box from the time I was very young. I was always considered rebellious, despite a mild attempt outwardly to adher to the social standards of the times.

Your attitudes and life style sound very much like my own ("...not seeking other people's approval...liv[ing] consciously in the moment...lov[ing] myself...")In my twenties, I studied theater at Second City, in Chicago, where I was first introduced to the concept of living and being in "the moment".
